Papier Masson evaluates the effectiveness of its measures to
protect the aquatic environment by implementing an Environment
Canada program called Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM).

Compliance Attestation
Through its participation in the Quebec government’s
Environmental
Compliance Attestation program, Papier Masson endeavours to improve
wastewater standards in relation to the receiving environment.
Residues
management and agricultural use of biosolids
The residues management program of Papier Masson
and the composting
and agricultural use of wastewater sludge (biosolids) have successfully
reached our recycling rate, to 98%.
Climate
change
By modernizing its facilities, Papier Masson succeeded in reducing the
level of its greenhouse-gas emission by 60% when compared with 1990 levels.
