Training
It has been a rebuilding year for positions and operational services
at the mill. All positions were analyzed in order to identify key
skills and define a training model. This exercise has already yielded
good results, and will continue in 2005 for positions in the Mechanical
Maintenance and Electricity and Instrumentation departments. In
addition, 6,000 hours of training were provided in 2004, for an
overall budget totalling close to $400,000, or just over 2% of total
payroll.
Trainees
19 D.E.P. students in pulp and paper, office automation, and electromechanics,
and D.E.C. students in industrial maintenance spent several weeks
in various of the mill's departments on traineeships. There were
also university-level traineeships in chemical engineering and human
resources.
