Product Specifications
At Papier Masson Ltée, our standard
newsprint is produced using thermo-mechanical pulp (TMP) on a Bel
Baie paper machine #3. Our TMP plant, put into operation in July
2000, has increased the tensile strength of the paper, which has
greatly improved the performance of our paper on our customer’ presses,
in addition to providing opacity and brightness exceeding the industry’s
average. Our paper machine, installed in 1985 and regularly modernized,
produces a very high quality sheet with excellent formation. In
addition, thanks to the automatic control of colour, our sheet
meets the standards set by the Newspaper Association of America
with little variation. Our sheet is also known by our customers
who use offset presses for its print quality, which is among the
best in the industry because of its smooth surface and stable behaviour
on the presses during four-colour, double-sided print runs. Lastly,
the rolls are produced using a computer-controlled winder prior
to being shipped directly to clients from the mill by truck or
by rail.
